Straight from their website...

The Ibanez RG2228 prestige guitar is equipped with an all-new 8-string version of the EFX bridge which combines fixed bridge sustain with the double-locking stability needed for extreme metal styles. Hot EMG 808 pickups, a very stable neck and the over the top (and bottom) extended range of this guitar allow you to play the heaviest of heavy riffs and solo to new heights!

Here's what you get: fast, flat and thin Wizard necks with Prestige finishing for supreme comfort, Gotoh precision tuning machines and comes with a hardshell case.

It comes with a Basswood body, jumbo frets, rosewood fingerboard, pearl dot inlay, fixed Edge III-8 bridge, EMG 808 for both the neck and bridge pickups.

Pure Opinion...

The RG2228 has a very good locking tremolo. You don't have to worry about going out of tune as it stays in tune for days even if you subject it to the most demanding of riffs. For its size, it is light. It's easy to play and does sound awesome.

You will find that it comes ready to play for most guitarists. You won't have to make any adjustments. It is built to last and can stand some maltreatment.

Another thing you'll discover with this guitar is that it makes the transition from a 6-string to an 8-string guitar easier. That's NOT to say that such transition is the best. It's better to get used to the feel of 7-strings before going to this. But if you want to take the leap, this one makes it quite easy on you. If you also play the bass, then you'll be able to get more bass from this without giving up the rhythm and lead.

You'll also discover that this guitar does fine with a wide range of music styles. The EMG pickups guarantee that you capture the full spectrum of each of the 8 strings. However, you may have a little feedback since the pickups are active. But this shouldn't be a big concern if you have a good engineer. And even if you don't, the feedback is so little you won't hear it while playing.

Do you get value for your money in this baby? Definitely, yes! Players pay twice for guitars that don't have anything close to the quality you'll get from this guitar. If you are a serious guitarist, then you really can't afford NOT to have this in your armoury.
